Experiencing grief is inevitable. Death is the only constant in this life but it sure doesn’t make it any easier.
I created this tarot spread to help you move through the grieving process… as difficult as it is, it’s something we all go through. Whether you’re grieving a relative, friend, partner, acquaintance or even a pet – here are some tips to help:
❀ Go at your own pace.
Don’t concern yourself with how others are doing or what you feel others expect of you. We all grieve in our own way, at our own pace, and that’s fine. You don’t need to move on in a certain amount of time or feel sad for a certain amount of time – everything is individual and none of it is wrong.
❀ Validate your feelings.
Don’t feel ashamed, embarrassed, dramatic or hard on yourself in any way. Your feelings are real so validate them and accept that they are what IS. Don’t try to fight them.
❀ Do what feels good for you.
Regardless of what anyone else does or says – do what makes you feel good. If that means talking to the deceased, having photographs, getting rid of everything, having a personal prayer or service, getting your mind off things, sulking – none of it is wrong and if it helps you feel good without hurting anyone else then keep doing it.
❀ Prioritize your health.
It can be easy to put off sleep, forget to eat, avoid exercise, drink less water, etc. when we feel depressed or upset but be sure to keep on top of those things. Self-care is one of the few things we can control in this life so be sure to be mindful of your health (even if it’s the last thing you want to focus on). Creating lists, asking someone to hold you accountable and asking for help can all be helpful during this time.
❀ Talk to someone.
When the time is right, be sure to share how you’re feeling with someone you trust. It’s incredible what saying something aloud can do for getting something off your mind & heart. Whether or not you have a lot of support around you, a trained professional might just be the perfect person to help you move forward in a healthy way.
