The winter solstice arrives December 21 and marks the shortest day and longest night of the year. It is at this time when the sun is at its lowest point in the sky.
The darkness that comes with the longest night of the year provides a beautiful stillness before the Sun begins its new solar cycle. This blesses us with a great time for growth, reflection and transformation.
A lot people are not comfortable in the stillness. They feel the need to move quickly to try to avoid being caught by the very things they try to run from. Fears, memories, emotions, ideas – they are avoidable but everything comes at a cost. When we run from the things that scare us we run from ourselves, we run from our truth and we run from what is. It is so important to take the time to accept the darkness. I urge you to take time this Winter Solstice to clean out the cobwebs that have built up from all the running away. Embrace the solitude, the stillness, and of course… the darkness.
