Exploring the Chakras: Third Eye

third-eyeThe sixth chakra – located on the forehead between the eyebrows represents perception, openness and imagination. This is the center of intuition, dreams, visualization, mindfulness and intellectual abilities. A healthy flow of energy in this chakra allows us to see things from an observers point of view, having a clear understanding of our surroundings and self-awareness.

Also referred to as the Ajna or Brow chakra, this chakra is a combination of all elements. The color is indigo which represents knowledge and mysticism… some say it is the color of an empty sky – where we can spend time in solitude and reflection.

When this chakra is out of balance or blocked, we sometimes see:

↠ Problems with vision
↠ Headaches
↠ Insomnia
↠ Difficulty recalling dreams
↠ Sinus problems
↠ Hallucinations
↠ Insensitivity
↠ Poor memory
↠ Denial
↠ Indecision
↠ Inability to see the bigger picture

When properly balanced and active, we see people who are:

✻ Intuitive
✻ Open to new ideas
✻ Observant
✻ Reflective
✻ Imaginative
✻ Spiritually aware
✻ Clairvoyant

Food to help balance this chakra: Dark fruits and liquids are great for the brow chakra, so is anything that awakens the senses.

⋯Eggplant, red cabbage, plums, red grapes, blackberries, blueberries, raspberries, grape juice, lavender, red wines, caffeine, dark chocolate⋯

⊱ Do you spend time in daily meditation, prayer or quiet introspection?
⊱ How often do you engage in abstract thinking? Do you enjoy it?
